Position Title:  Member of the Board of Directors

Length of Term:  Two years (three-term limit)

Reports To:  Entire Board of Directors

 

Organized in 2016, the World U.P. Foundation was created by people motivated to:

  • Promote understanding and peaceful diversity.

  • Remove barriers to create opportunities, access, availability, and inclusivity.

  • Create experiences that cultivate knowledge, understanding, conversations, and education.

  • Enrich the lives of individuals through betterment, enhancement, and growth.

  • Align a united global perspective by changing the conversation from “them” to “us.”

 

World U.P. is looking to grow our Board of Directors! We are seeking new Board members for our nonprofit organization to join an established and energetic group of members. We are seeking those who can bring energy, enthusiasm and a strong work ethic to the team. Skills and knowledge can be taught if you have the time and commitment to help World U.P. thrive and move forward. If you are a "roll up your sleeves" and get it done kind of person, we would love to talk to you. World U.P. is an innovative and progressive organization that creates unique programming to increase community access to resources that promote peaceful diversity. To continue our work, we are in need of board members who are willing to advocate and fundraise on our behalf.

 

The board of directors is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the organization.

Requirements

  1. Pre-existing passion for supporting communities to create access and opportunities that allow others to embrace cultural diversity

  2. Eagerness to participate at every meeting

  3. Willing to prepare ahead for meetings

  4. Anxious to serve on committees

  5. Ability and propensity to give above average financially

  6. Strong desire for stewardship to others

  7. Supportive, but willing to express their own opinion

  8. Strives to learn as much as possible

  9. Willing to volunteer and bring volunteers to support our programming

Time Demands (approximate):

  • Attend and actively participate in at least 75% of board meetings (Monthly Updates held the 1st Thursday from 7 pm - 8 pm via Zoom, In-Person Board Development Meetings the 3rd Sunday from 6 pm - 8 pm)

  • Attend and actively participate in committee meetings and related work (1-3 hours per month as determined by the committee)

  • Attend special events such as fundraisers

  • Attend new board member orientation (approx. 2 hours)

  • Meet with potential donors/funders to make a case for funding the organization, answer questions, etc. (approx. 4 hours annually)

 

Financial and Resource Development Expectations:

  • Make an annual gift “commensurate or significant according to your circumstance” to the organization (in order to achieve 100% board giving)

  • Sell tickets to fundraising events
